데마고그란 demagogue 데마를 퍼트려 대중을 정치적 감정적으로 선동하는 정치꾼을 말한다. 결국 자극적인 변설이나 글또는 선동적인 허위선전을 한다는 뜻으로 유언비어나 괴담을 통해 상식을 혼돈시키고 거기에서 진실을 비켜가는 사이비 태도라 보면 될것 같다.

Demagogues overturn established customs of political conduct, or promise or threaten to do so. Most who were elected to high office changed their democracy into some form of managed democracy.[citation needed]
중우정치로 퇴색돼었고 오히려 데마고그는 현대에 들어서면서 정보의 홍수가 되면서 오히려 위험성이 커지고 있다. 대표적인 데마고그가 나치스의 히틀러다.
